Maria De Lourdes Arzola Anaya, founder

of Maria International Travel, was

born in a small town named El Encino

de la Paz, located north of the State of Durango,

Mexico.

She arrived to the US, like millions of Latinos,

in search for a better future for her and

her three children.

As a single mother, first in Chicago looking

for opportunities, she decided to move to Detroit

with her three children

To support her family, Lourdes needed to

work in different jobs. As she got some experience

in the business of travel agencies while

living in Chicago, she kept the dream to have

one of her own. In 1999, her persistence took

her to start at her home Maria International

Travel, a halftime secondary job. At that time,

she used to deliver the airline tickets directly

to her customers. Finally, after a short time,

thanks to her unique services and enthusiasm,

she decided to rent a small 10’ x10’ space to

formally start her business.

After two years of success, Lourdes bought

a building,  in Mexicantown,

which she fixed helping improve the appearance

in the neighborhood. She also had the

vision to rent spaces while supporting other

small businesses that were just starting.

After years of hard work and a long list of

loyal customers, Lourdes Arzola is so proud to

be the founder of the largest Hispanic Travel

Agency in the city of Detroit. She has also

extended the services not just related to traveling,

also other very important ones for the

Hispanic community as: money transfers, mail

and packages shipment services to Mexico,

Legalization services for vehicles entering to

Mexico, etc.
